He was predeceased by: his wife Debbie Shapiro; his parents, Reuben Shapiro and Joyce Shapiro; and his brother Charles Shapiro. He is survived by: his children, Karolyn Raphael (Lance), Adam Shapiro (Deanna), Leah Shapiro and Natalie Grantner (Matt); his grandchildren, Liam, Merrick, Eryn Raphael, Joseph, Emilia Shapiro, Andrew, William, Elizabeth Mckenzie, Josephine and Nadine Grantner; and his siblings, Joseph, Dennis, Michael, Gene and Christine.
