It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edward S. Smiley of Highland, Indiana, who passed away on July 23, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Edward S. Smiley to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Jean Smiley; his parents, Ed Smiley and Irma Smiley; his daughter Anne Baranowski; and his great grandchildren, Isaac Larsen, Aria Sefton and Benjamin Sefton.
He is survived by: his children, Terri Kohler and Mike Smiley (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Becky Larsen (Eric), Kevin Kohler (Ashley), Amanda Sefton (Matt), Randy Baranowski Jr. (Amanda), Jonathan Smiley and Matthew Smiley; his great grandchildren, Annabelle, Claire, Gabriel, Natalia Larsen, Logan, Graham, Jack Kohler, Thomas Sefton, Jacob and Oliver Baranowski; his son-in-law Randy Baranowski Sr.; and his siblings, Pat Fleming (late Ray), Casi Aplin (Doug), Ruthann Kritz (Ray) and Jeff Smiley (Debi). He is also survived by his grandchildren and Pop-Pop to his great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3rd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Kish Funeral Home (10000 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN 46321). A prayer will be held on Sunday, August 3rd 2025 at 2:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Thomas More Church (8501 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN 46321). A burial will be held on Monday, August 4th 2025 at 11:30 PM at the Holy Cross Cemetery (801 Michigan City Rd, Calumet City, IL 60409).
