He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell S. Smiddy and Irene Smiddy (Prigge); his wife Betty; his brother Richard Smiddy (late Louise); his grandson Jack Daniels; and his friend Linda "Penny" Brown.
He is survived by: his daughters, Anna Daniels (Rick) of Wheatfield, IN, Elizabeth "Lisa" Varner (Harold) of Boswell, IN, Caroline Stanula (Mike) of Beecher, IL and Dana Vandewater (Robert) of Cedar Lake, IN; his grandchildren, Jonathan Varner (Samantha), Elysse Arnett (Brock), Joshua Willis (Alex), Dominic Willis (Stephanie), Daine Willis, Elizabeth Kuiken (Scott), Nathan Stanula (Sadie), Abigail "Bobbi" Volek (Kyle), Jodi Daniels and Matt Daniels; his great grandchildren, Phoenix, Everly Willis, Bryce, Griffin, Elle Arnett, Emelia, Ethan, Elivia Kuiken, Sydney, Morgan Varner, Russell, Thomas Volek, Michael, Murphy Stanula, Addyson, Cameron Daniels, Hunter, Norah Daniels and Drake Daniels; his brother Jim Smiddy (Julie); and his friends, Ray Ross and Glenida Winston. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews extended family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens (8178 S Cline Ave, Crown Point, IN 46307). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S Cline Ave, Crown Point, IN 46307). A committal service will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens (8178 S Cline Ave, Crown Point, IN 46307).
