She was predeceased by: her husband Hugh Underwood; and her parents, Taft Heffelfinger and Helen Heffelfinger (Stolman). She is survived by: her children, Cathy Dauenhauer (Leo), Scott Underwood (Mary), Brian Underwood (Carol) and Sue Herran (Ed); her grandchildren, Dr. Cassie Mylnek (Scott), Dr. Emily Zolnik (Jon), Allison Uthoff (Andy), Lauren Underwood, Landon Underwood, Meghan Underwood, Gabriella Underwood, Brian-Miguel Underwood, Haley Mitchell (Alex), Dr. Reid Herran (Maddie) and Eli Herran (Hannah); and her brother Richard Heffelfinger. She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
