He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin J. Sternberg and Edna Sternberg (Boyd); his wife Mary Ann Sternberg; and his sisters, Virginia "Jinny" Bartley and Betty Jochim.
He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Carlisle (Jeff) of Ft. Wayne, Cathy Shrode (Joe) of Newburgh, Scott Sternberg (Barbara) of Evansville, Tim Sternberg (Tonya) of Huntingburg and Chris Sternberg (Sally) of Evansville; his grandchildren, Brian, Michelle, Josh, Brevin, Rhetta, Breck, Brayton, Sam, Matthew, Kaelyn and Emilie; and his great grandchildren, Preston, Stetson, Marie, Elise and Miles.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or the Linda E. White Hospice House.
