With profound sadness, we say goodbye to John Tanner of Huntingburg, Indiana, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. John left this world on April 30, 2026 at the age of 79, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Tanner and Delores Tanner (Dearing); his wife Jane Tanner (Overbeck); and his brother Paul Tanner. He is survived by: his children, Shawn Tanner (Angela Duncan Tanner) of Hamilton, Ohio and Nicole Tanner of Huntingburg; his stepdaughters, Susan Dessauer and Loraine Garner; his sisters, Judy Skaggs of Alabama, Marian Cooper of Huntingburg and Leah Hayworth of Huntingburg; and his granddaughter Jayden Tanner. He is also survived by 13 step grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A memorial gathering was held on Sunday, May 3rd 2026 at the V. F. W. Post #2366 and Y. M. I Club. Visitation was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Nass & Son Funeral Home (208 Main St, Huntingburg, IN 47542). A funeral service was held on Sunday, May 10th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
