It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maxine Lawrence of Huntingburg, Indiana, who passed away on September 30, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Sherman Henry and Lela Marie Rhodes (Leighty); her former husband David Mathias; her stepson Thomas Lawrence; her siblings, Bernard, Theodore Rhodes, Myrtle Nichols, Mae Kinman, Betty Cleveland and Marilyn Fettinger; and her grandson Christopher Mathias.
She is survived by: her husband James Lawrence of Huntingburg; her children, David Wayne Mathias (Rachelle) of Huntingburg, Robert Douglas Mathias (Anne) of Huntingburg, Anthony Scott Mathias (Sharon) of Jeffersonville, Ricky Joe Mathias (Lynette) of Winslow and Kristy Lynn Lawrence of Huntingburg; and her sister Loretta Hainley (James) of Greenwood. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and many step great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Nass & Son Funeral Home (208 Main St, Huntingburg, IN 47542). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
