He is survived by: his children, Stacia Hertel (Rich) of Huntington, Natalie Burgess (Alex) of Huntington and Nick Carnes (Kirby) of Madeira Beach, FL; his grandchildren, Lanie Young (Josh), Dawson Hertel (Haley), Evan Blocker, Ellie Bartrom, Dylinn Hertel, Easah Bartrom and Eluciana Burgess; his great grandchildren, Henry Hertel, Thomas Hertel and Luka Young; and his siblings, Larry Carnes (Dee) of Seminole, FL and Jan Hensel of Syracuse, IN..
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel (2901 Guilford St, Huntington, IN 46750). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Huntington First Church of the Nazarene (1555 Flaxmill Rd, Huntington, IN 46750).
