He was predeceased by: his parents, Serlina Gridiron and Justus Mason Gridiron Sr.; his siblings, Justus Gridiron Jr., Lena M. Lindsay, Mary Louise Daniels (Duck), Donald Gridiron Sr. and Carolyn Floyd; and his son Alvin Tyrone Gridiron.

He is survived by: his daughters, Tiffany Michelle and Tina; his grandchildren, Vivienne Michelle Smith and Justin Taylor Smith; his siblings, Grant P. Gridiron (Minnieanne), Pauline Collins (Emanuel), B. Marie Herron and Christine Mitchell; and his sisters-in-law, Marie and Gloria Gridiron. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
