He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Starr and Betty Starr (Cain); and his siblings, Richard, Jimmy and Barbara.
He is survived by: his children, Tiffany Staten and Adam Starr; and his siblings, Thomas Starr, Bettie Morlan and Margaret Steinberg. He is also survived by five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
