It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Degraphenreed (Indianapolis, Indiana), who passed away on September 17, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father James DeGraphenreed; her sister Joanna Degraphenreed; her son Orlando Matthews, Jr.; her brother-in-law Kenny Davis; and her mother Mary Elizabeth Degraphenreed.
She is survived by: her children, Carlita Arila (Joseph), Shawna Stroud (Emory), Beulah Jean Matthews, John Miles and Jose Miles (Jaime); her grandchildren, Orlando III, Juan, Monie, Brandon, Sean, Ryan, Aaron, Cheza, Megan, Ta'Juana, Jasmin, Tristan, Austin, Johnicea, Ignoisco, Xavier, Jozarya, Jose Jr. and Blake; her great grandchildren, Katlyn, Orlando IIII, Christian, Ryla, Oliver, Jameson, Bryce and Bezaleel; her great great grandchild A. Carter; and her siblings, Tony Degraphenreed (Margie), Juan Degraphenreed, Donna Carter, Janice Degraphenreed and Nancita Davis. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Stuart Mortuary Chapel (2201 N Illinois St, Indianapolis, IN 46208). A celebration of life was held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
