He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Gill, Jr. and Evelyn Thomas; and his siblings, Wanda Jean Gill, George Thomas Jr., Rita Thomas and Patty Lewis.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his children, Vernon H. Gill (Ashley), Veronica Gill-Reed and Cheryl Gill; his grandchildren, Darius Gill (Raven), Candace Gill, Nathan Gill and Noah Reed; his great grandchildren, Rilee, Alaina, Lillian, Leilani, True and Lyla; his sisters, Arlene Vance (Timothy) and Rosemary Lewis (Thomas); and his cousins, Sandy Leake, Douglas Leake, Sr., Gregory Johnson and Janet Bean. He is also survived by nieces; nephews; and many other extended family members and friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Berean Bible Church (5602 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46220). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
