She was predeceased by : her parents, New Englanders and Dr. Harold Richardson; her husband Joe N. Van Valer; and her granddaughters, Ashlynn and Autumn Stropes.

She is survived by : her sisters, Dr. Elizabeth Ruben of Indianapolis and Carol Dennis of Indianapolis; her children, Judge Kim Van Valer of Franklin, IN, Kelli Stropes (Steve) of Trafalgar, IN, Dr. Lynn Faur (T. J.) of Auburn, IN and Dr. Jeff Van Valer of Fishers; her grandchildren, Ross, Leah Shilts, Nathan (Karlea), Forrest, Dr. Katie Stropes, Rae, Hadyn, T. J. Faur, Martha and Joe Van Valer; and her great grandchildren, Rosalee Linville, Clara and Opal Stropes.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Sunday, April 21st 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Richardson Chapel at Franklin College (101 Branigin Blvd, Franklin, IN 46131). The inurnment was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 at the Greenlawn Cemetery (100 W South St, Franklin, IN 46131).

Along with her sisters, she made significant contributions to the enhancement of Richardson Chapel named for her father where her.
