He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard L Short and Lula Jane Short (Webster); his sisters, Eloise Short and Venita Combs; and his nieces, JoJo Day and Lora Jane George.
He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Short (Hagerman); his children, Danette Short-Meek (Jason) and Jerry Short (Cindy); his grandchildren, Ryan, Natalie, Allison and Olivia; his nephew Leonard Wall (Elaine); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Damon Wall (Victoria) and Crysta Sutherland (Mitch).
When COVID kept him inside, he began a love of jigsaw puzzles and reading books.
