He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Shillings and Flossie Williams Shillings; his son Robert Yarnell; and his granddaughter Kailee Marie Carr. He is survived by: his wife Karen Shillings; his children, Shannon Carr (Mark), Gregory Shillings (Tina Renee), Ginger Underwood (John), Joanna Yarnell, Mark Tarter (Kim), Karey Smith and Jimmy Yarnell (Renee); and his siblings, Carolyn Gunter (Willard) and Harvey Shillings (Margaret). He is also survived by 15 Grandchildren, 35 Greatgrandchildren and 10 Great Greatgrandchildren.
