She was predeceased by: her parents, Sidney Watson, Sr. and Diana Willis Watson; her son Nathaniel Eugene Gillard; her grandson Thomas Gillard; and her siblings, George Mitchell, John Watson, Sidney Watson, Jr., Claude Mae Butler, Mamie Anderson, Ruth Small, Katie Parrish, Barbara Bridges, Annie Belle Watson and Diana Watson.

She is survived by: her great grandchildren, Momma Deb, Ole Lady and Debbie Cakes; her children, Mary E. Gillard, Theresa Brandon (Michael, Jr.), Debra Gillard, John Quincy Gillard, Jr., Anthony Gillard (Tammy) of Louisville and Frank P. Gaines (Shianna); her siblings, Diana Rembert (Jesse) and Eli Watson, Sr.; and her friend Joe Mundy.
