He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Mitchell; his daughter Tina Mitchell; his parents, Parnell Mitchell and Nelle Mitchell; and his sister Geraldine Altermyer.

He is survived by: his children, Helene Freitas, Kim Mitchell, Clifford Mitchell, Jeannette Silveira, Cynthia Alsup, Steve Mitchell, Denton Mitchell Jr. and Bobbi Jo Reynolds; and his stepchildren, William Driscoll, Ramona Driscoll and Cheryl Brousseau. He is also survived by several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
