He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Jean Knapke; and his parents, Hazel Knapke and Wilbur Knapke. He is survived by: his children, Deborah Ellerby (Dennis), Donald Knapke Jr. (Danielle), Douglas Knapke, Denise Soltis (Bob) and David Knapke; his siblings, Wilbur Knapke (Patty) and Teresa Presson; his grandchildren, Michael, Brittany, Jade, Abby, Sarah, Emily, Casey and Kaya; and his great grandchildren, Emma, Eli, Sam, Jackson, Henry, Ethan and Liam.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the O'Riley - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory (6107 S East St, Indianapolis, IN 46227). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, May 20th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mark Catholic Church (535 E Edgewood Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46227).
