He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard James and Alma Elizabeth Johnson (Fine); his wife Esther Carolyn Bunch; and his brother James Johnson. He is survived by: his sisters, Kay Milligan of Glenburnie, Brenda Johnson of Indianapolis, Judith Nichols of Oklahoma and Debra Knoll of Indianapolis; his close friend Mary Brewer of Mitchell; his children, Stephan Dean Johnson and Rhonda Lynn Johnson; and his siblings, Raymond Johnson, Dorothy Allen, Dolores Fish, Russell Wayne Johnson, Perry Johnson, Carolyn Middleton and Patricia Allen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Chastain Funeral Home (705 W Warren St, Mitchell, IN 47446). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center (705 W Warren St, Mitchell, IN 47446). A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at the Cresthaven Memory Gardens (3522 Dixie Hwy, Bedford, IN 47421).
