He was predeceased by: his mother Vivian Gentry (Garrison); his son Zachary Gentry; his sister Laura Kay Gentry; his grandparents, Willie, Reva Gentry, Robert F. and Minnie B. Garrison (Miller); and his parents-in-law, James Carter and Trena Scott.

He is survived by: his father William Gentry Jr.; his wife Kelley Rene Gentry; his children, Shane Gentry (Samantha) and Crystal Haley (John); his sisters, Becky Kristch (Steve) and Cindy Gentry; his grandchildren, Destinee Haley, Dakota Haley, Kelley Michelle Gentry, Zachary James Gentry and Laura Kay Gentry; and his sisters-in-law, Carrie Smith and Gena. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
