He was predeceased by: his parents, Banks William and Nancy Covert (Adams); his wife Patricia Louise "Patty" Tibbs; and his siblings, Laura Covert and Doug Covert.
He is survived by: his sons, James R. Covert, Jr. and Brian D. Covert; and his siblings, Julie Covert and Alan Covert. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
