She is survived by: her husband James H. Bates, Jr.; her close friend Ling Ling; her sisters, Cardell Peake, Marian Peake and Edith Rogers (Muncie); her aunt Margaret Connor; and her sisters-in-law, Diane Peake, Bettie Peake, Anna Cunningham and Mary Freeman. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and cherished friends.
She also believed in giving back to various charities through donations.
