Jannelle leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Jannelle’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around her. Though she is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support she offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Jannelle will carry forward her memory in their hearts.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John Phillips and Bessie Blair (Grant); her daughter Frances Smiley; and her siblings, John Phillips Jr. of Muncie, IN, Jessie Carr, Janice Reed, Ollie Coleman and Annie Bowling.

She is survived by: her nephews, James Phillips of Indianapolis, Robert Phillips (Donna) of Muncie, IN, Donald Phillips (Sandra) of Avon, IN and Gary Phillips (Annette) of Muncie, IN. She is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews, friends and other family members.

A memorial gathering was held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Stevens Mortuary - Stevens Mortuary (5520 W 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46224). A memorial service was held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
