He was predeceased by: his father Jay Charles Edwards, Jr.; and his grandparents, Jay Charles, Ada Edwards, Clarence and Lillie Wilson.

He is survived by: his mother Doris Lee Edwards (Wilson); his wife Erica Johnson Edwards of Zionsville; his sons, Jay Charles Edwards IV of Zionsville, Orin Jay Edwards of Zionsville and Dominique Funderburk of Charlotte; his grandson Dominique Funderburk, Jr.; and his siblings, Kenney Edwards (Tonya), Letania Edwards and Danica Edwards (Latasha). He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
