He was predeceased by: his parents, Carolyn Lindauer (Eaton) and Donald Eaton. He is survived by: his former wife Deb Ehlers; his son Derek Keith Eaton (Amy); his wife Jane Nitz (Long); his stepsons, Josh Nitz (Sarah) and Jacob Nitz (Cinthya); and his grandchildren, Rhylee Eaton and Brody Eaton.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to his memorial scholarship fund supporting student athletes and his love for running and cross country.

“Jeff……….may you R.I.P. As cousins, being only two years apart, we had so much fun growing up together. I remember being a very young age spending the night at your house. You must have been an infant because I stood in your crib cried my eyes out until your Mom and Dad took me home. And I will never forget the week’s stay at Lake Shaffer/Freeman pulling our “pet rocks” tied with ropes down the road. We even hid them in our suitcases to bring home. I will miss you…until we meet again❤️”
