He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Tharpe and Arthenia McCullough Tharpe; and his siblings, Richard, Kenneth and Lavern.
He is survived by: his children, Sylvia A. Funez, Yolanda Tharpe, Lonnie Tharpe, Jr. and Tim Henderson; his stepdaughter Regina Lenoir; his close friend Jeanine; his granddaughter Tania; his sisters, Jothenia (Ellison Sr.) and Diana; and his close friend Brenda. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and cousins, many friends.
