He is survived by: his children, Carl Sam, Jhunlette Kelly, Martin Sam Jr. (Kimtoiya), Corey D. Sam and Martell Black Sr. (Shellie); and his siblings, Mary Walls and Mose Sam (Dianah) of Illinois. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
