He is survived by: his parents, Jon Bates and Angela Bates; his siblings, Katherine O'Brien (Kevin), Anna Tarpey (Christopher) and Joseph Bates; his siblings' children, John, Luke, Connor, Margaret O'Brien, Joseph "JJ", Oliver and Henry Tarpey; and his grandmother Arlene Bates. He is also survived by 20 aunts and uncles and 24 cousins.
