Nancy Allen wrote a sympathy message

“My heart is broken. Ralphie, you were always such a good friend to me. I loved our conversations and the shared adoration between you and my husband, Coachie. Softball and Metro brought us into each others' lives and were always common threads for us. I take some solace that you passed doing something that you loved with people you loved, hitting practice at Riverside Park. I suspect that you only left because Coachie needed a great first baseman and hitter on his roster. Hugs and prayers.”
