He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Brooking and Rachel Brooking; his daughter Amber; his grandson Dwight "Baby D" Carter III; and his brothers, Wayne "Sonny" Jr. and Lonnie Brooking.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Brooking; his children, Amanda Pottle, Andrea Brooking, Heather Carter (Dwight II), Trenity Brooking, Michael Brooking (Kayla), Abigail Wyatt, Stacy Palmer and Jennifer Edgell; and his siblings, Terry Brooking (Cathy), Rosemary Weddle (Jerry) and Peggy Walls. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
