He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathaniel Kappel and Jean Kappel (Edwards); and his siblings, Danny, Eugene Kappel and Anita Kappel.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra Kappel (Pickard); his sons, Brad and Rob Kappel (Diana); his brother Bill Kappel (Donna); and his sister-in-law Alene Kappel. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
