He was predeceased by: his parents, Inez O. Kistner (Durham) and William R. Kistner; and his siblings, Dolores I. Johnson (Kistner), Teresa A. McLoughlin (Kistner) and John "Jack" W. Kistner (Marguerite E.).

He is survived by: his daughters, Elaine Peck (Ray), Laurie Luckett (Wayne), Elizabeth Bodi (Steve) and Julie Tarner (Mark); his grandchildren, Hannah Luckett, Tyler Luckett (Meredith), Olivia Bodi (Elie), Ethan Bodi, Emily Tarner (Jasleen), Sam, Anna and Elizabeth Tarner; and his great grandchildren, Graham and Lucas.

Due to COVID-19, there will be a celebration of life at a later date.

The Catholic faith and prayer were central to his family and remained the foundation of his life.
