He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil McElyea and Sarah McElyea (Tester); and his former wife Anne McElyea (Young). He is survived by: his wife Leona M. McElyea (Perdue); his children, Kimberli Long (Mike), Joshua McElyea (Ashley), Sarah McElyea and Vironet; his siblings, Mary Ann Woody (Richard), Tommy Howell, Ray Howell (Debra) and Andy Howell; and his children, Chris Eldridge and Cheryl Bailey (Mike). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and three great‑grandchildren.
