He is survived by: his close friend Sharon Shirley; his children, Chelsea Kay Houpt, Lucius Houpt and Ari Gromatka; and his sisters, Ruby Houpt-Hartwell, Mary Ellen-Houpt and Angela Gilber. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
