Sara Imogene Goebel Obituary
TANGIER- Sara Imogene Goebel, 90, of Indianapolis, Indiana and formerly of Tangier, Indiana passed way at 1:20 am Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. She was a homemaker. She was born December 26, 1926 in Mecca, Indiana to the late George Clarence Darland and Ermer Sanders Darland.
Her husband of 56 years, Henry A. Goebel whom she married March 25, 1945 in Indianapolis passed way August 27, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Henry A. (Maxola) Goebel of Dunellen, Florida and Gregory (Patricia) Goebel of Daytona Beach, Florida; four daughters, Cheryl Monday of Bradenton, Florida, Gayle Witty of Eustis, Florida, Darla Hood of Bradenton, Florida and Lara (Tim) Ibey of Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Florence Matthews, son in law, Bob Matthews, daughter in law, Pat Goebel, grandsons, Jeff Stadick and Allen Goebel.
She graduated with honors from Tangier (Liberty Township) High School. She was a member of Phanuel Lutheran Church in Wallace, Red Hat Society and volunteered for the Parke County Food Pantry. She was a wonderful cook.
Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 9, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Pastor Lowell Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville. Visitation is from 12 noon until 2: 00 pm Saturday.
