He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Johnson Sr. and Hattie Mae Sanders; his wife Patricia Ann Johnson; his children, Vernita E. Johnson and Rodney Johnson; his brothers, Norman Johnson and Vincent Johnson; and his grandsons, Darren Johnson, Aubrey Johnson Jr. and Those.
He is survived by: his children, Aubrey Johnson Sr. (Francine), Anthony Johnson, Vernon Johnson III and Tonia Richardson; and his siblings, Ronald Johnson and Dorothy Hardermon. He is also survived by five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
