He was predeceased by: his parents, Dale Hammel and Betty Hammel (Davis); and his siblings, Joy Kennedy, Bob and Jim Hammel.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy Hammel (Miller); his children, Melanie Heaviland (Dean) of Speedway, IN, Craig Hammel (Abby) of Raleigh, NC, Michelle Brand (Clint) of Lafayette, IN and Mallory of Indianapolis; and his grandchildren, Ben, Joey Heaviland, Olivia, Grant, Jack Hammel, Brooke, Landon, Connor, Jacob, Reagan, Carson and Henry Brand. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Taeko Loundenback-WinsteadMemorial Gathering Memorial (2950 N High School Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46224). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to United Way of Central Indiana in Bill's memory.
