He was predeceased by: his parents, William G and Thiel, Sr. (Wilhelmia Holzer Thiel); and his sister Carol Myers. He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Thiel; and his sister Marilyn Thiel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
