Deacon Michael E. Helfter Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Deacon Michael E. Helfter of Jasper, Indiana, who passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald J. Helfter and Marilyn E. Helfter (Reed); his daughter Rhonda Helfter-Wagner; his grandson Tyler Robert Wagner; his brother Kenneth Helfter; and his brother-in-law Bill Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Eileen Marie Kennedy of Jasper, IN; his children, Todd Helfter (Anne) of Summerville, SC and Ryan E. Helfter (Rui) of Edison, NJ; his son-in-law Ronald "Ron" Wagner; his grandchildren, Mark, Galen, Kaitlin Helfter, Justin, Dylan Wagner and Ridley Helfter; and his siblings, Francis "Frank" Helfter (Joni) of Iowa, Theresa "Terry" Newton (Dale) of Iowa, Ellen Vogel (Mark) of Arizona, Henry "Hank" Helfter (Kevin Anderson) of Florida, Mary Helfter of Iowa, Rebecca "Becky" Helfter of Arizona and Tony Helfter (Kristy) of Iowa.
A rosary will be held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Holy Family Parish (950 Church Ave, Jasper, IN 47546). Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 8th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church (950 Church Ave, Jasper, IN 47546). A burial will be held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at the St. Peter's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, due to Eileen's allergy, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Parish, St. Meinrad Archabbey, or to the wishes of the family.
