He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Vaal and Marietta Vaal (Wiederkehr); his wife Marcella "Sally" Lampert; and his sisters, Dorothy Mae "Toots", Bettye Lou Greulich (Leroy) and Barbara Susanna Bennett.

He is survived by: his daughters, Sandy Grimme (Joe) of Indianapolis, IN, Beverley Buckley (Mike) of Glendale, AZ, Carmen Shalda (Lou) of Rockford, MI, Lori Smallwood (Mike) of Greenwood, IN and Kellie Coykendall (Dan) of Middleville, MI..

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul, or to a favorite charity.
