John J. Hopf Obituary

With sadness, we share the passing of John J. Hopf of Jasper, Indiana. John, born on November 8, 1939, passed away on September 15, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Hopf and Loretta Hopf (Bachman); his daughter Kelli Eckert; his sister-in-law Charlotte Hopf; and his great-niece Ashley Doolittle.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Carolyn Hopf of Jasper, IN; his children, Phil Hopf (Ruth) of Jasper, IN, Susan Stetter (Phil) of Jasper, IN, Scott Hopf (Chris) of Jasper, IN and Luke Hopf (April) of Jasper, IN; his son-in-law Keith Eckert (Sheila) of Ireland, IN; his grandchildren, Tara Albrecht (Jeff), Kurt Eckert (Kelsey), Brittney Krempp (Alex), Reed Stetter, Kyle Eckert (Amber), Austin Hopf, Eric Hopf (Haley), Dawson Hopf (Sarah), Dylan Hopf and Eli Hopf; his great grandchildren, Wade, Jovi Albrecht, Jaelynn, Baylor Eckert, Kelli, Sophie Eckert, Amelia, Noah, Hallie Krempp and Brooks Hopf; and his brother Jerry L. Hopf. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

A rosary was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the St. Joseph's Parish (1029 Kundeck St, Jasper, IN 47546). Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Becher & Kluesner Funeral Home - Downtown (214 E 7th St, Jasper, IN 47546). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St Joseph Catholic Church (1029 Kundeck St, Jasper, IN 47546). A burial was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at the Fairview Cemetery (1020 Kundeck St, Jasper, IN 47546).
