He was predeceased by: his siblings, Deborah Matthews, Ronnie and Donnie Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Janet Matthews of Jasper, IN; his children, Phil Matthews (Becky) of Driftwood, TX and Heidi Kress (Klay) of Santa Claus, IN; his grandsons, Alex Matthews, Adam Matthews and Matthew Kress; and his siblings, Joyce Noya (Roy), Carolyn Wargel, Joan Wagner, Clare Weidenbenner (Dennis), Irene Hochgesang (Wayne), Agnes Bastys, Elizabeth Crowley, Martha Poehlein (Randall), Marian Jones (Ken), Florence Matthews and Ed Matthews (Martha). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church for Masses, the Dubois County Humane Society or to the wishes of the family.
