He was predeceased by: his parents, James Kearns and Nettie Kearns (Myers); his sister Phyllis Dunn; and his grandson James Thomas Kearns. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Kearns (Coomer); his children, Bobby Kearns (Opal) and Deborah Crum (Terry); his stepchildren, John Kaelin (Michelle), Tony Kaelin (Sulayne), Diane Rose, Tabby Herron (Danny), Sean Kaelin (Valerie) and Sterling Kaelin; and his sister Myrtle Vaughn. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild.

The family requests that contributions in Herbert's memory be made to the family in care of Sharon Kearns.
