He is survived by: his wife Lezlie Atkinson; his children, Michael Scott Atkinson (Nicole) of New Albany, Indiana and Carrie Elizabeth Atkinson of Jeffersonville, Indiana; his granddaughter Emily Mairead Atkinson; and his siblings, Nancy Nelson (Richard) of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Janie Herrick (Gary) of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Dennis Atkinson (Karen) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Richard Atkinson (Stacey) of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Douglas Atkinson (Julie) of San Antonio, Texas, Jeffrey Atkinson (Christina) of Kissimmee, Florida and Joseph Atkinson (Kim) of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many life-long friends.
