He was predeceased by: his parents, William Russell and Mary Frances Downs; his wife Virginia Downs; his daughter Catherine "Cathy" Downs; and his brother Roger "Rock" Downs.
He is survived by: his children, David Downs (Paula), Christopher Downs and Jennifer Downs; his grandchildren, Eric Butler (Bianca), Kelly Butler, Abigayle Hussain (Raheel) and Summer Denney; his great grandchildren, Maverick Butler, Ezra Butler, Kynlee Falconberry and Hendrix Denney; his brothers, Dr. Darrell "Slats" Downs (Fran), Russell Downs (Phyllis) and Joseph Downs (Lora); and his sister-in-law Annetta Downs. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
