He was predeceased by: his parents, Phalis Backherms and Martha Backherms. He is survived by: his significant other Linda Wyatt; his sister Pamela Kimmel (Bill); his niece Kristina Stubblefield (Josh); his nephew Will Kimmel (Erica); his great-nephew William; and his pet Sophie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Jeffersonville Animal Shelter, 201 Willinger Lane, Jeffersonville, IN 47130.
