He was predeceased by: his parents, James E. Shields, Sr. and Sudie Mae Shields; and his siblings, Catherine Williams, Dorothy Hembree, James Shields, Christine Baker and Johnny Shields.
He is survived by: his siblings, Elizabeth Hardin, Michael Shields, Ricky Shields and Marcella Shields; Thomas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
