He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Melton and Ollie Melton (Shepherd); his wife Evelyn Melton (Hey); his siblings, Della Cornett (Melton), Katie McDowell (Melton), Corbin Melton, Robert Melton, Dollie Arnold (Melton), Georgia Caudill (Melton), Ellis Melton, Dennis Melton, Nell Melton and Carlis "Carl" Melton; and his son-in-law Benjamin Forrester.
He is survived by: his daughters, Susan Shingleton (William) and Carolyn Forrester; his grandchildren, Amelia Otto (Curt), Daniel T. Forrester (Karla) and Jeffrey Forrester; his great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Cooper, Max Otto, Bentley, Aiden, Charlie Forrester and Conan Forrester; his nephews, Homer Melton (Joan) and Orlis "Ault" Melton (Charlene); and his friend Paula Sauerheber.
