He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Eakins and Beulah Eakins (Garner); his wife Edna Eakins (Lemons); and his siblings, Onnie Derossett, Delbert Eakins, Bill Eakins, Margaret Walser, Marjorie Mills and Mike Eakins.
He is survived by: his close friend Diana Miller; his sister-in-law Rosalie Eakins; his children, Laurie Eakins (Wayne Bennett) of Seward, AK, Maryann Riddle, Jamie Barry, Rachael Earhart (David) of Maynardville, TN, James Richard Reece and Marion; and his siblings, Georgianna Pearson, Diane Fields (Brian), Marion and Steve Eakins (Helen). He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
