He was predeceased by: his parents, Fuson Whittington and Irene Whittington; his wife Janet Whittington (Lowe); his son Joe Paul Jr. "Jack"; and his brothers, Gerald, Tom and Frank Whittington.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jean (Leibold), Lori (Poer) and Judy (Ratcliff); and his siblings, Anne (Pittman), Jan (Ludlow), John, Max and Rex Whittington. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
